Neil Tye 2025 - Piercing through the layers of life

Solo exhibition with ArtZone artist Neil Tye

In brief moments, we may find ourselves intensely drawn by intuition – as a bodily sensation rooted in biology and past experience. Light and movement emerge as unconscious and rapid forces, central to our ability to listen to our inner landscape.

With the exhibition Piercing Through the Layers of Life, British visual artist Neil Tye (b. 1963) explores how we are drawn to light and movement through colour and line. He works experimentally in a search for new perspectives, using light as a piercing force that transforms both painting and atmosphere – physically and mentally. From paint on plastic to personal development. From informal conversations to private moments, he uses the canvas to create spaces for exchanging the many layers of life.

In silence, the works convey a sense of closeness while remaining open to connection – like a gesture, a breath, or a meditative state. At first glance, the works may appear similar in composition. Take a step back, and notice how tension‑filled lines emerge through the layers – bold, insistent, almost luminous.

Neil Tye is a locally based artist with a background in both visual art and physical theatre. He holds a Master’s degree in Professional Practice from Middlesex University, London, and has exhibited, performed, and taught across Europe and internationally.

With his interdisciplinary background, Neil Tye explores movement, form, and narrative through visual media.
