Handle with Care

Handle with Care
Junette Bay and Dina Lea Bay
Spinderihallerne presents an exhibition about impressions, emotions, and consequences when life’s possibilities unfold – for better or worse. Junette Bay (1975) and Dina Lea Bay (2005) are artists working in colour and textile. They have created monumental and accessible floral motifs as installation-based collages that appear harmonious, almost classical. Each work is rooted in personal experiences from their practice as artists – through both triumphs and challenges.
Drawing on the blossoming, decorative traditions of folk art, Junette Bay and Dina Lea Bay explore forms and patterns across craft, technology, and history. The exhibition Handle with Care presents flowers that, in passion, water themselves. Flowers that intertwine in togetherness. Flowers that, in division, lose their petals and are left behind.
The works testify to a simple past, a complex present, and an unpredictable future, creating friction in the encounter between materials, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary techniques.
Junette Bay has created the colour compositions, while Dina Lea Bay has crocheted. The works are rooted in art history, craft traditions, and the technological possibilities of our time. They serve as structural elements within the collage, pointing toward hope in a moment where the world is collectively withering.
The exhibition is created in collaboration with Spinderihallerne and FabLab.
